Earlier this year, in a charrette hosted by AIA Dallas, Andrew Barnes, AIA and Sara Barnes of Agent Architecture, Nick Thorn, AIA of Marlon Blackwell Architects and myself (CallisonRTKL) came together to think about a more meaningful presence of DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) on City of Dallas' east side. Here, we envisioned a transit nexus just north of The Epic. We thought of this location as a potential place to punctuate the intersection of neighborhoods and parks with an underground transit center flanked by scaled development. On one end, passengers would emerge into a growing East Dallas. On the other, passengers would experience a gateway into Carpenter Park with a framed view of Downtown. The tracks would remain underground and rise up along their current run.

We felt this study, along with those from other teams, would shed light on what is possible beyond the current alignment.
